The tradition of throwing confetti dates back to Pagan times, when grains of rice were thrown over the newly-weds to wish them a fruitful union. Then came the Italian tradition of throwing little sweets, the original ‘confetti’, later followed in the nineteenth century by the paper shapes we now know. In more recent years, real rose petals have come to replace paper ones for a chic and environmentally friendly alternative. Now, more and more couples opt for bubbles which are clean, safe and come in favour sized bottles for some bridal sparkle and fun.
Well, here at Oh So Cherished we don’t really go in for rice, but we can help you with all the other options! Traditional confetti comes in all shapes and sizes; we have silver butterflies, ‘Just Married’ silver words, bio-degradable tissue confetti in pretty printed cones, coloured foil hearts and little silver snowflakes for the winter wedding.
If you prefer the natural beauty of rose petals, we can offer you a choice of white/ivory, purple, red or pale pink, naturally preserved to look as fresh as the day they were picked and perfect to scatter over the happy couple with the warmest of wishes for a happy future.
Wedding bubbles come in cute favour-sized champagne bottles or glasses and are just the perfect way to send off the bride and groom with a splash of style.
However you choose to celebrate the ancient tradition, the message is the same: warmest wishes to the bride and groom for a long and happy marriage.
