Description

'Remembering' is a beautiful keepsake/memory book for children when someone special in their life has died. It has been published by The Child Bereavement Charity and features outstanding illustrations which are light-hearted yet thoughtful. It's part book, part scrapbook and was created to help keep a child's memories alive after the loss of someone special and to give children a place to return to whenever they wish. There is space for the youngster to name and stick in a photo of the person they have lost, and then to remember times shared whilst drawing pictures to keep memories alive. There is space for them to say farewell in their own words, which is especially important for children who don't attend the funeral. Another section allows the family to share their beliefs about what happens to a person after they die. Every year thousands of children are bereaved of someone important to them. This book provides a way for a trusted adult to spend time with the child, helping them to express their emotions and share memories. This book may become a treasured keepsake in its own right or form part of a memory box. It is just one way that the adults can comfort and support the child at this difficult time.

Have not used this book yet but it seem to strike the right balance for a child who has been recently bereaved. Thought provoking yet fun too.
